Zhostiva is a Russian folk handicraft that originated in the Zhostova region of the Moscow Oblast in the early 19th century. The traditional papier-mâché bowls, plates and trays became extremely popular with some artists reaching great renown. In the 20th century the technique started to include metal trays, like this one, lacquered in black varnish with floral motifs painted in diluted oil paints. The edges are decorated with a light golden "uborka" pattern. They are as durable as they are beautiful.
This tray is a fabulous size, just perfect for a bedside table or altar space, it measures 21cm x 18 and is in excellent condition with just a little fading in the uborka (see photos).

Sort of. I have a workshop in the High Fidelity Atelier in Pankow, Berlin where customers and other weirdos are welcome, however, as most of my work is made to order I do not have a large amount of stock to view. Furthermore, family commitments mean my work hours are not always regular so it's best to contact me directly via Etsy or kazaniansemporium@gmail.com and we can discuss options and possible appointments.
Thank you for your understanding.
I stand by the quality of my work but it should be clear that a lot of my jewellery is costume jewellery, often made with base metals that will tarnish over time or in certain environments, if you are unsure about how best to care for your jewelry then drop me a line and I can give you tips and tricks for preserving or restoring your items. If an item is delivered damaged or breaks early on please contact me asap and I will refund, replace or repair where appropriate.
All of my jewelry is made with metals that are lead, cadmium and nickel free. More detailed safety information will be added to all listings and included with orders after 13.12.2024 in line with GSPR
Custom orders are possible. Send me a message and we can discuss what is possible.
I DO NOT OFFER ENGRAVING SERVICES.
All Germany prices include 19% VAT. For other EU orders VAT is charged per your country's rate. For international orders country or state wide sales tax may be added separately by Etsy.
US orders must have tariffs prepaid so they are included along with brokerages fees in your postage charges.
Other international buyers outside of the EU are responsible for any extra fees, duties, brokerage charges or other any charges put in place by your country. Please make sure you understand your countries laws before purchasing . If you refuse a shipment you may not be entitled to a full refund.
Information for US customers re: tariffs and the removal of de minimus: contrary to standard procedure all packages entering the US must have their tariffs prepaid. As of yet there is no way to do this through my usual postal carrier so I am switching to Transglobal Express who can provide brokerage services and prepay the duty at the border (DDP). However, without a way to separately charge the tariffs through Etsy at point of purchase I have no choice but to add a surcharge to your postage which can cover the appropriate tariff and other associated costs. Please do not hesitate to contact me before or after placing an order you have any questions or concerns.
All orders are presented in velvet or Organza pouches and packaged in shipping boxes. I am committed to environmentally friendly packaging so all my presentation and shipping materials are either recycled (such as shredded paper for packing) or reused from my own deliveries (such as bubblewrap and packing peanuts).
Etsy allows you to select Mark as Gift as an option at checkout. However, my international customers need to be aware that by law I MUST include an invoice and state the cost of the item/s on the customs form which is affixed to the outside of the package.
Most of my items are available for wholesale purchase. My basic policies are 50% reduction from RRP with an item minimum of 3 and an overall purchase order minimum of $250. Payment is required before shipping except for long term customers who are able to negotiate NET payment terms. Please contact me for more details about my policies and how to purchase.
While rare it's always possible that a package is lost somewhere in the postal ether... if your order is taking a long time to reach you please let me know and I can help reassure you and help track it down.
With international packages there is 10 working day window before I can open an investigation with the carrier and a minimum 6 weeks after that for the item to be declared 'lost'. Within Germany that window is 20 days. Unless the item has turned up back at my shop or I have tracking showing that it's being returned to sender any refunds and/or cancellations will be processed after this 6 week/20 day window. Please be aware that transit time to some countries are routinely over 8 weeks (e.g. Australia, Mexico, South America)
Unfortunately due to the very high recycling and packaging charges some countries have imposed I have had to stop selling to some locations in the EU. If you are in doubt as to whether my items are available for you to purchase then feel free to message me and I can let you know what is possible.
Shipping times have changed since pre-pandemic and destinations such as Mexico, New Zealand, Australia and others regularly have transit times of 8 weeks (in comparison to 6 weeks pre 2020). If you have any concerns please message me.
Unfortunately until I am able to resume using Warenpost International (Deutsche Post with DHL) for my US shipments I am unable to dispatch to APO/DPO addresses or the US territories and locations that incur Remote Area Surcharges.
